The wide leaves of the Cloud Forests intercept an almost-constant fog, which drips to the ground (called "fog drip") and ensures a year-round supply of fresh water to the agriculture-dependent communities of the region.
PocketPhilanthropist partners with grassroots, non-profit organization 3MAlliance (http://3malliance.org/) in an effort to save these "Fountains In The Sky". Headquartered in the Jama-Coaque Ecological Reserve in coastal Ecuador, which they established in 2007, 3MAlliance asks for your help to acquire and conserve 257 acres of remaining cloud forest.
What's not saved will be logged in the next 2 – 3 years, drying up nutrient rich rivers, and most likely will never return.
A $1 donation will preserve 307 square feet of Cloud Forest (equal to the size of a small studio apartment).
A $10 donation will preserve 3,075 square feet of Cloud Forest (equal to the size of a tennis court).
